Supervision for therapists

Nicola is a qualified supervisor having undertaken an Advanced Diploma in Relational Supervision with Severn Talking Therapy (www.severntalkingtherapy.co.uk). She believes that the therapy profession needs more experienced and reflexive organisational supervisors to work with therapists who are supporting a changing workforce with increasing demand and complexity in a more psychologically aware society.

There is the potential for all who work with the human experience including carers and helpers to experience vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue and burnout. ‘The expectation that we can be immersed in suffering and loss daily and not be touched by it is as unrealistic as being able to walk through water without being wet.’ If these wise words speak to you, you may like to know that they come from Kitchen Table Wisdom by Dr Rachel Remen.

‘Nicola is a thoughtful, experienced therapist, supervisor, journalist and speaker. Her insights into the field of mental health and wellbeing are thought-provoking, and definitely worth listening to.’
